ALPhA, the Advanced Laboratory Physics Association, will hold the 2023 Conference on Laboratory Instruction Beyond the First Year (BFY4) at California State University, Chico Wednesday, July 12 - Friday, July 14, 2023.
Conference overview:The 2.5 day conference brings together faculty, technical staff, and vendors involved with intermediate and advanced undergraduate laboratories to share effective lab curricula, teaching methods, and experiments. This is a workshop-intensive conference during which participants will rotate through twelve 40 minute small-group workshops led by commercial vendors and by laboratory instructors and developers. This setup provide an unusual and excellent opportunity for hands-on experience with a broad selection of contemporary instructional labs. The conference also includes invited speakers and breakout and networking sessions. Meeting participants are encouraged to present information about their own courses and/or experiments in two contributed poster sessions. Workshop and poster presenters have the opportunity to publish a paper in the peer reviewed conference proceedings.
Past conferences have been limited to the first 150 registrants.
