BFY II: Constructing Great Instructional Lab Experiences

ALPhA, the Advanced Laboratory Physics Association, held the Second Conference on Laboratory Instruction: Beyond the First Year (BFY II) of College at the University of Maryland, Wednesday, July 22 - Friday, July 24, 2015.

Conference overview:

The 2.5 day conference brought together faculty and technical staff involved with intermediate and advanced undergraduate laboratories to share effective lab curricula, teaching methods, and experiments. Ten hours were devoted to small-group workshops led by commercial vendors and by laboratory instructors and developers provide an unusual and excellent opportunity for hands-on experience with a broad selection of contemporary instructional labs. The conference also included invited speakers and breakout sessions on a variety of topics, and meeting participants presented information about their own courses and/or experiments in two contributed poster sessions.

The conference was full as space was limited to the first 150 registrants.
