ALPhA, the Advanced Laboratory Physics Association, will hold the Third Conference on Laboratory Instruction Beyond the First Year (BFY III) at Loyola University Maryland in Baltimore, MD, Wednesday, July 25 - Friday, July 27, 2018.
The 2.5 day conference brings together faculty, technical staff, and vendors involved with intermediate and advanced undergraduate laboratories to share effective lab curricula, teaching methods, and experiments. This is a workshop-intensive conference during which participants will rotate through twelve 40 minute small-group workshops led by commercial vendors and by laboratory instructors and developers. This setup provide an unusual and excellent opportunity for hands-on experience with a broad selection of contemporary instructional labs. The conference also includes invited speakers and breakout and networking sessions. Meeting participants are encouraged to present information about their own courses and/or experiments in two contributed poster sessions. Workshop and poster presenters have the opportunity to publish a paper in the peer reviewed conference proceedings.
