Abstract Title: W03 Low Cost Gamma Ray Spectrometers
Abstract: We have developed an extremely low cost (<$150/detector) gamma ray spectrometer (Niels Bohr Institute Billige Gamma Spectrometer: NBI-BiGS) utilizing a LYSO scintillator coupled to a Si PhotoMultiplier.  In this 40 minute workshop, you will be introduced to the NBI-BiGS, a high performance inexpensive (<$200) Data Acquisition System (based on the Digilent Analog Discovery II), and how to use them.  Participants will then acquire gamma spectra for several sources and end by using two NBI-BiGS to make a mini-PET scanner.
