Abstract Title: |
A Grading Rubric for Intermediate Laboratory Courses in Physics |
Abstract: |
Physics majors at West Chester University take a two semester sequence of laboratory courses designated Intermediate Lab I and II. Each semester, students are required to write three "research papers", consistent with the conventions of scientific journal papers. We have prepared a grading rubric that articulates the qualities of a good scientific paper. The rubric has four main categories: accuracy, precision, completeness, and convention. These are complemented with categories addressing the structure of the paper and the quality of writing. |
